Princess Leonor receives title of Honorary Mayor of Oviedo and the Medal of Asturias
On Thursday, Princess Leonor was honored in Asturias ahead of the Princess of Asturias Awards. She first received the title of Honorary Mayor of Oviedo for "the special connection of the Royal House with Asturias and Oviedo, as well as Leonor's position as honorary president of the Princess of Asturias Foundation."
Afterward, Princess Leonor received the Medal of Asturias, which is awarded “by right” to those who hold the title of heir to the Throne.
In her speech, Princess Leonor said: “I carry Asturias in my heart. And it will always be the beloved homeland that the anthem says, the land that gives its name to the title that designates me as Princess and, therefore, servant of Spain, and the place of origin of my maternal family. I said it in my first speech in Oviedo, in 2019: I have Asturian blood. And that not only gives character: it is a pride and a joy.”
Princess Leonor wore a Pedro Del Hierro suit with PINKCHICguagua pumps and a bespoke Ansa per Ansa bag. She also wore a Falconeri jumper (with thanks to Vanitatis). She paired the outfit with her mother’s Gold & Roses earrings.
