Icelandic State Visit to Denmark - Day 1

On Tuesday, the President of Iceland Halla Tómasdóttir and her spouse Björn Skúlason started a State Visit to Denmark. It is the first State Visit hosted by King Frederik and Queen Mary.

King Frederik and Queen Mary officially welcomed the Presidential Couple at Nordre Toldbod in Copenhagen.

Afterward, the Royal Couple and the Presidential Couple traveled by carriage to the Kastellet where they laid a wreath.

King Frederik and Queen Mary then hosted an official reception at Christian VII's Palace at Amalienborg.

The Royal Couple and the Presidential Couple also visited Jónshús, an Icelandic cultural center in Copenhagen. They met with Icelandic women from the Association of Women in Business in Denmark, young Icelandic business women in the Nordics from the association Katla Nordic, as well as representatives from the Icelandic parliament, the Altinget.

In the afternoon, King Frederik, Queen Mary, and the Presidential Couple visited Arnamagnæan Collection, a collection of manuscripts that can be dated back to the Middle Ages, at the University of Copenhagen.

In the evening, King Frederik and Queen Mary hosted a State Dinner for President Halla Tómasdóttir and her spouse Björn Skúlason. Princess Benedikte was also in attendance.
