Swedish State Visit to Mexico - Day 2
On Wednesday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia spent their second day in Mexico where they are undertaking a three-day State Visit.
They first attended the Mexico-Sweden Business Forum to discuss sustainable transport solutions, sustainable mining, the telecom industry, and innovation in the health area.
Afterward, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited the headquarters of SOS Children's Villages where they met representatives of the national family integration system and SIPINNA , the national system for the protection of girls, boys, and young people. In her speech, Queen Silvia said: “Many of the children under your care have lost their guardians or for various reasons cannot stay with their families of origin. Before coming here, they have often lived unprotected, without education, health care, or even worse – without an adult to turn to. In 1999, I founded the World Childhood Foundation to protect children from violence and sexual abuse. I know that children without parental care are especially at risk, and I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for children to have access to the love and care of adults.”
Queen Silvia also met with a representative of the government and with María Luisa García Andrade, lawyer and human rights defender, to discuss the human rights agenda between both countries.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia also visited the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) where they met the university's rector Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas as well as a group of Mexican students studying Swedish.
The Royal Couple also visited Ericsson's new office in Mexico City and held a reception for the Swedish community living in the country.
In the evening, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended a performance of traditional Mexican dances at the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
Queen Silvia first wore a floral printed blouse by Thalia with white trousers, Natan pumps, and a Natan clutch. She also wore her Louis Vuitton bag later in the day. She paired the outfit with her usual Cartier and Engelbert bracelets.
In the evening, Queen Silvia wore a brocade dress with her Cartier and Engelbert bracelets.
