On Thursday, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, and Princess Beatrix attended the Four Freedoms Awards 2024 in Middelburg. The Four Freedoms Awards are presented each year to people and organizations whose efforts and achievements “demonstrate a deep commitment to the ideals proclaimed by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in his historic Four Freedoms speech in 1941.”

This year’s winners are the research collective Bellingcat (Freedom of Speech Award); Uighurs rights activist Zumretay Arkin (Freedom of Religion Award); Brazil's Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Sônia Guajajara (Freedom of Defect Award); and Walk Free founder Grace Forrest (Freedom from Fear Award). During the ceremony, Prime Minister Mark Rutte also presented the International Four Freedoms Award to Save Ukraine, a charity committed to returning kidnapped Ukrainian children from Russia and occupied territories to Ukraine.

Queen Maxima wore her Natan outfit with her Gianvito Rossi pumps, her Natan clutch, and her Dinh Van bracelet.
