The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visit Colombia - Day 1
On Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex started their 4-day official visit to Colombia with their Archewell Foundation at the invitation of the Colombian Vice-President Francia Márquez.
They were officially welcomed in Bogotá by Vice President Francia Márquez and her partner, Rafael Yerney Pinillos.
Afterward, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited El Colegio de Cultura Popular where they joined students in an Insight Session hosted by the Archewell Foundation to discuss the digital world and its impact on society.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex then attended a cultural event highlighting the artistry of Bogotá at the Centro Nacional de las Artes Delia Zapata Olivella. The event featured a theater performance, a musical performance, and a Carnaval de Pasto dance performance in the neighboring plaza.
In the evening, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took part in the Responsible Digital Future Summit at the Universidad EAN. The summit was hosted by the Archewell Foundation, in partnership with The Office of the Vice President of Colombia and Luminate. It focused on the urgent need to highlight online safety in the Global South.
During the summit, the Duchess of Sussex said: “We should model how we want our kids to be raised and for the world in which we raise them. It doesn’t matter where you live. It doesn’t matter who you are. Either you personally or someone you know is a victim to what’s happening online. And that’s something we can actively work on every day to remedy.”
The Duchess of Sussex first wore a Veronica Beard outfit with Manolo Blahnik pumps and a Loro Piana bag. She paired the outfit with her Pippa Small earrings and bracelets by Cartier and Lorraine Schwartz.
The Duchess of Sussex then wore a new dress by Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz with Jimmy Choo sandals (with thanks to Meghan’s Closet Chronicles). She also wore her Lanvin earrings with her Cartier necklace and her Cartier bracelet.
