On Sunday, the Duchess of Edinburgh spent her second day in Guatemala. She visited Tikal, a World Heritage site located in the Mayan Jungle. The visit focused on the importance of preserving cultural heritage and protecting the forest.
Afterward, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the indigenous community of Uaxactún in the Mayan Biosphere Reserve. She heard more about a UK-funded programme that seeks to protect biodiversity and promote sustainable development. This initiative works with local communities to protect forest ecosystems and improve livelihoods.
