Swedish State Visit to Canada - Day 1
On Tuesday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia started a three-day State Visit to Canada. They first attended an official ceremony at Rideau Hall, the Governor General's official residence. They were officially welcomed by Chief Justice Richard Wagner on behalf of the Governor General who will not be able to take part in the state visit for health reasons.
Afterward, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial, a memorial to Canadians who have served the country.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then met with the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, as well as the Speaker of the Senate, Raymond Gagné, and the Speaker of the House of Commons, Francis Scarpaleggia.
The Royal Couple also visited the Canadian Museum of History and attended a strategic partnership to support Ukraine, Canada–Sweden Strategic Partnership in Action: Supporting a Resilient Ukraine.
In the evening, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended a State Dinner hosted at Rideau Hall.
Queen Silvia wore a red coat with her Philip Treacy hat and her Joan Rivers brooch.
In the evening, Queen Silvia wore a Maknam gown with her Brunate pumps and Cartier bracelet.
