Queen Letizia attends XVI NAOS Convention
On Thursday, Queen Letizia attended the XVI NAOS (Nutrition, Physical Activity and Prevention of Obesity) Convention at the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition in Madrid. This year’s convention focused on the importance of school meals and healthy eating as well as the inequalities in access to healthy and sustainable food from the school cafeteria to other community environments.
In her speech, Queen Letizia said: “There's no one in this room who doesn't know the prevalence of childhood overweight and obesity in Spain. And while it's true, according to the latest Aladino study, that it has improved in some age groups, the figures remain very high. It's also important to note that significant efforts are being made by all levels of government, both national and regional, to try to reverse these figures, but the reality is stubborn. Children from low-income families are twice as likely to be overweight or obese as those from wealthier families. Children from low-income families spend more time in front of screens, are more exposed to advertising for ultra-processed products, and consume more of these products themselves.”
Queen Letizia also presented the XVII and XVIII NAOS Strategy Awards. The Awards recognize initiatives in the family, community, school, business, and health sectors that contribute to achieving the objectives of the NAOS Strategy.
Queen Letizia wore her Hugo Boss blazer with her Falconeri jumper, her Maje trousers, and her Hugo Boss belt. She paired the outfit with her Massimo Dutti shoes and her Carolina Herrera bag. She also wore her Gold & Roses earrings and her Coreterno ring.
