Dutch Royal Family celebrates Koningsdag 2025 in Doetinchem

On Saturday, King Willem-Alexander celebrated his 58th birthday a day early! Koningsdag is usually celebrated in a Dutch city and this year it was in Doetinchem.

The Royal Family was welcomed in Doetinchem by the Mayor before watching performances by several groups from the region on the Mark Tennantplantsoen.

Afterward, the Royal Family met with various chefs and farmers from the Achterhoek region to learn more about their fresh produce.

The Royal Family then took part in several sports activities at Sportlaan before meeting with athletes and volunteers from the Achterhoek region.

They also joined sports icons from the region in a quiz about the Achterhoek region. Queen Maxima’s team won the quiz and Queen Maxima scored the winning penalty.

Then, the Royal Family saw the artwork 'The Hamburgerpoort', which is a reminder of one of the four city gates that were bombed during the Second World War.

The day of celebration ended at Doetinchemse Walmolen where King Willem-Alexander made a speech to thank the crowds.

Queen Maxima wore a Natan Couture outfit with her Gianvito Rossi pumps and her Kayu clutch. She also wore a Philip Treacy hat.

Princess Catharina-Amalia wore a Ralph Lauren dress with her Stuart Weitzman sandals and a Mango bag (with thanks to ModeKoninginMaxima). She also wore a Franky Amsterdam hand chain.

Princess Alexia wore a Massimo Dutti jacket with a Maje outfit, Sézane pumps, and her mother’s Delvaux bag. She also wore her mother Roberto Coin jewels and her Rosa de la Cruz necklace.

Princess Laurentien wore a Maliparmi duster with her Castaner sandals and a Leer van Teuntje bag. She also wore BerNice earrings with an Angelo Moretti ring.
