Luxembourg National Day: Visits to Esch-sur-Alzette and Mondercange & Torchlight Procession

On Saturday, the eve of Luxembourg’s National Day, the Grand Ducal couple and the Hereditary Grand Ducal couple respectively visited Esch-sur-Alzette & Mondercange. It is Grand Duke Henri’s last National Day celebration as Head of State.

In Esch-sur-Alzette, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa laid flowers at the War Memorial before walking to the Town Hall where they attended a reception and watched a parade. They also took part in the Escher Volleksfest and helped start the campfire of the Luxembourg Scouts.

In Mondercange, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie attended an official ceremony at the War Memorial before watching the associations’ parade. The Hereditary Grand Ducal Couple then visited the “A Bosselesch” club, a meeting place facilitating intergenerational activities.

In the evening, Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie, Prince Félix, Princess Amalia, Prince Liam, Prince Louis, Prince Gabriel, Prince Noah, Princess Alexandra and Nicolas Bagory, and Prince Sébastien attended the Aubade of Military Music and a large parade of associations on the Eve of Luxembourg’s National Day. Grand Duke Henri’s siblings, as well as Grand Duchess Maria Teresa’s sister and sister in law, were also in attendance.

As is tradition, celebrations in the capital kicked off the day before with the country's largest public festival, including the torch procession (Fakelzuch) and traditional fireworks. The fireworks in honor of the Grand Duke's birthday were set off from the Pont Adolphe.

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore a Natan dress with her Prada pumps and Sophie Habsburg clutch.

Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie wore a fuchsia top with her Carolina Herrera trousers, her Sergio Rossi pumps, and a Maria La Rosa clutch. She also wore Santibé jewels, her Chaumet ring, and her Cartier watch. For the torchlight procession, she changed into her Castaner wedges.

It seems Princess Alexandra wore a Séraphine top with black trousers and her Janie Philip sandals.

Princess Amalia wore a Dixie jumpsuit and her Bonpoint shoes.

Prince Liam wore a navy suit with his Jacadi mocassins.
