Luxembourg National Day: Visits to Kehlen and Esch-sur-Alzette & Torchlight Procession
On Saturday, the eve of Luxembourg’s National Day, the Grand Ducal couple and the Hereditary Grand Ducal couple respectively visited Kehlen & Esch-sur-Alzette.
In Kehlen, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa first visited the “Am Pavillon” music school where they watched a music performance by school children before unveiling “Ech war dobäi”, an artistic work created by Jacques Schneider.
The Grand Ducal Couple also met representatives of local associations through around thirty different stands installed in the playground of the school building. They concluded their afternoon in Kehlen with a meeting with elderly residents.
In Esch-sur-Alzette, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie first laid flowers at the War Memorial before walking to the Town Hall where they attended a reception and watched a parade. The Hereditary Grand Ducal Couple also took part in the Escher Volleksfest and helped start the campfire of the Luxembourg Scouts.
In the evening, Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie, Prince Félix, Prince Louis, and Prince Sébastien attended the Aubade of Military Music and a large parade of associations on the Eve of Luxembourg’s National Day.
As is tradition, celebrations in the capital kicked off the day before with the country's largest public festival, including the torch procession (Fakelzuch) and traditional fireworks. The fireworks in honor of the Grand Duke's birthday were set off from the Pont Adolphe.
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore a Dries Van Noten jacket with her Max Mara jumpsuit. She paired the outfit with Bottega Veneta earrings, her Prada pumps, and a Giorgio Armani clutch.
Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie wore a Natan outfit with Sergio Rossi pumps and her Serpui bag. She paired the outfit with repeated Julie Sion earrings, her Cartier watch, and her Carolina Herrera bracelet.
