King Felipe and Queen Letizia mark 30th anniversary of Francisco Tomás y Valiente's assassination
On Friday, King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited the exhibition “In Memoriam Tomás y Valiente. 1996-2026” at the Faculty of Law of the Autonomous University of Madrid to mark the 30th anniversary of the assassination of Francisco Tomás y Valiente by the terrorist group ETA.
In his speech, King Felipe said: “Today we remember Francisco Tomás y Valiente. For everyone, he was an eminent jurist, a professor, a President of the Constitutional Court (the second), and a permanent member of the Council of State. For me, he was also a teacher and mentor: I had the good fortune and privilege of being his student in the History of Law course during my first year of law school here at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). And it is with that admiration—and with that gratitude—that I like to remember him; and as he—I suspect—would also like to be remembered.”
Queen Letizia wore her COS coat with her Teresa Helbig jumpsuit, her Magrit boots, and her Carolina Herrera bag. She also wore her Coreterno ring.
