Prince Joachim and Princess Marie attend "Fashioning Power, Fashioning Peace" event
On Monday, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie attended the "Fashioning Power, Fashioning Peace" event, the opening reception for the annual fashion exhibition, held at President Woodrow Wilson House in Washington D.C. Princess Marie loaned the Jenny Packham gown she wore at the Gala Dinner held during the Egyptian State Visit to Denmark in 2024 to the exhibition.
Princess Marie was the 2026 Honoree in recognition of “her humanitarian leadership, advocacy for education and health, efforts to combat food waste, and her role as Patron of the Danish UNESCO National Commission”. She received the Esther Pin, which draws inspiration from René Lalique’s original Peace Brooch, given to Edith Wilson during her 1918 visit to Paris.
In her speech, Princess Marie said: “Fashion in this sense is far more than design. It reflects identity, history, and dignity. It carries the story of nations and individuals alike. And when we share these stories across borders, fashion becomes a form of dialogue, one that invites understanding, respect, and connection. It allows us to share who we are, tell our stories, and to better understand one another. Through my work in culture and humanitarian initiatives, I have seen how powerful these connections can be; they open doors, they build trust, and they remind us of what unites us despite our differences. […] At a time when the world calls for greater understanding, gatherings such as this carry special significance. They remind us that diplomacy is not only the work of governments, it is also the work of people, of culture, and of the shared values that connect us. In that spirit, we are reminded that we are not only representatives of our nations, we are in a very real sense citizens of a shared world.”
Princess Marie wore her Emporio Armani suit with her Jimmy Choo sandals and a gold clutch. She also wore repeated earrings and the Esther Pin she received during the event.
