The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh visit Portugal - Day 3
On Wednesday, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh spent their third day in Portugal, attending engagements in Porto.
They first received the Keys to the City of Porto from Pedro Duarte, the Mayor of Porto, at Porto City Hall.
Afterward, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh attended an official lunch at the British Factory House, which served as the headquarters and social hub of British port wine merchants during the 18th Century.
In the afternoon, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh toured the Cathedral of Porto where King João I of Portugal and Queen Philippa of Lancaster were married. This marriage sealed the Treaty of Windsor in 1387.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh then visited Casa da Musica where they watched performances by ‘Desporto no Bairro’, a Porto municipal social-inclusion programme, and the Baroque Orchestra.
They also toured Graham's Port Lodge to hear more about the sustainability initiatives embedded throughout the production process. They also baptized a cask of Port which will join a collection set aside to mark Royal visits and significant occasions over the years.
The Duchess of Edinburgh wore a Soler dress with her Penelope Chilvers shoes and her Sophie Habsburg clutch. She paired the outfit with Giulia Barela earrings (with thanks to RoyalBritishFashion), her Loewe watch, and her Giulia Barela ring.
