The Duchess of Sussex visits Robert Clack School for International Women's Day

On Friday, the Duchess of Sussex made an unannounced visit to the Robert Clack School in Dagenham to attend an event marking International Women’s Day (8 March)

Dagenham was a perfect choice to mark International Women’s Day as it is the place where female sewing machinists from the Ford Motor Plant held a strike for equal pay in 1968. This led to the passing of the Equal Pay Act in 1970, exactly 50 years ago. Meghan attended a special assembly at the school where she made a speech. She also presented the Citizen of the Week Award.

During her visit, the Duchess of Sussex toured the school and met children who were working on projects to celebrate IWD such as researching their favorite female poets and writers. She also met students from the Debate Society who were preparing for their Model United Nations competition, discussing topics including women’s rights and inequality.

Meghan wore a new boucle jacket by ME + EM with a white top and black trousers. She paired the outfit with new two-tone pumps by Jennifer Chamandi and a new bag by Rejina Pyo. She also wore her Jessica McCormack bracelet with several gold Missoma rings and a new necklace by Edge of Ember. It is interesting to note that all of those brands are female-driven which is a nice touch for an event marking International Women’s Day.
