The Duke and Duchess of Sussex mark World Mental Health Day

On Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in New York City to mark World Mental Health Day. They first visited The Marcy Lab School to meet with their Fall 2023 fellows. The school offers high school graduates a year-long Fellowship designed to teach the software engineering skills they need to pursue tech jobs while incorporating mental wellness and civic engagement into their curriculum.

In the afternoon, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in a Digital Age, their Foundation’s first in-person event. The Foundation has been working with parents who have lost their children due to social media for the past years and the Summit aimed to give them a voice to tell their experiences.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also took part in a panel with U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy about how to address mental wellness in a digital age, moderated by Carson Daly. During the discussion, the Duchess of Sussex said: “ They say being a parent, the days are long but the years are short, so it worries me, but I'm also given a lot of hope and energy by the progress we've made in the past year being able to have these incredible parents, these survivors of these experiences, share their stories and the more information gathering we're able to do, the more we can move the needle a little bit. Everyone is affected by the online world and social media. We all just want to feel safe. I'm confident that with more ears and awareness and visibility of what is really happening, we can make some significant change together."

The Duchess of Sussex first wore a letterman jacket that was gifted to her by students during her visit to Robert Clack School in the UK in 2020 with a black top, her Frame jeans, and her Jennifer Chamandi pumps. She also wore a Luna Skye necklace (with thanks to Meghan’s Closet Chronicles) and her Cartier bracelet.

At the Summit, the Duchess of Sussex wore an Altuzarra outfit (with thanks to Meghan’s Closet Chronicles) with her Aquazzura pumps. She also wore her Sarah Hendler earrings, her Cartier bracelet, and a Logan Hollowell necklace (with thanks to Meghan’s Closet Chronicles).
