On 11 July 2017, King Felipe and Queen Letizia departed Madrid to travel to London where they would make a three-day state visit, their first as monarchs. An official departure ceremony took place at the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas airport in Madrid.

Letizia wore a white Hugo Boss peplum top with a white pencil skirt. She paired the outfit with her Lidia Faro clutch, Magrit snakeskin pumps, and Hugo Boss sunglasses.

The state visit started on 12 July 2017 as King Felipe and Queen Letizia were greeted by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at their hotel. From there, both couples traveled to the Horse Guards Parade where they attended the official welcome ceremony with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

The royals then took part in a carriage procession along the Mall to Buckingham Palace where the Queen hosted a private lunch for her guests.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia then met Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall at Clarence House for tea.

Afterward, the Spanish royal couple went to the Palace of Westminster, where King Felipe addressed both Houses of Parliament.

In the evening, Queen Elizabeth hosted a state banquet for King Felipe and Queen Letizia. The Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and Princess Anne were among the guests.

For the official welcome ceremony, Queen Letizia wore a new yellow outfit by Felipe Varela with Prada nude pumps and a bespoke Magrit clutch. Her hat was made by Maria Nieto.

For the afternoon events, Letizia wore a new Burberry dress with her Prada pumps and a red leather clutch by Menbur.

For the state banquet, Queen Letizia wore a custom made off the shoulder embellished Felipe Varela red gown with a satin clutch by Magrit. She wore jewels from the Joyas de Pasar including the ‘La Buena’ tiara, the earrings and one of the bracelets.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a bespoke pink lace Marchesa gown. She wore Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara with the Collingwood earrings and a ruby and diamond necklace that she borrowed from the Queen.

The Countess of Wessex wore a blue off the shoulder Bruce Oldfield gown with her convertible aquamarine tiara.
