Spanish State Visit to Sweden - Day 1

Today, King Felipe and Queen Letizia officially started their two-day state visit to Sweden.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia were first received by King Carl-Gustaf and Queen Silvia at the Royal Stables before taking a carriage ride to the Royal Palace.

There, they attended the official welcome ceremony where both King Carl-Gustaf and King Felipe reviewed the troops and both anthems were performed.

Afterward, King Carl-Gustaf and King Felipe both took part in a press conference with Queen Silvia and Queen Letizia in attendance.

The Swedish royal family then offered a private lunch for King Felipe and Queen Letizia at the Royal Palace.

In the afternoon, both royal couples visited the Nobel Museum where they toured the exhibition “Synapse. Art and science of Spain. From Ramón y Cajal to our days ” which shows the works of Spanish scientists that takes as its starting point the drawings of neurons by Nobel Prize winner Ramón y Cajal.

King Felipe then met with the President of the Parliament and the Prime Minister.

In the meantime, Queen Letizia, Queen Silvia, and Crown Princess Victoria visited the Karolinska Institutet where they attended a meeting with representatives of organizations of Rare Diseases, spinal cord damage, and organoselective endovascular therapy.

In the evening, King Carl-Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted a gala dinner at the Royal Palace for King Felipe and Queen Letizia. Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl-Philip, and Princess Sofia were also in attendance.

For the day events, Queen Letizia wore a new Carolina Herrera tan faux fur collar cape over a red Carolina Herrera dress. She paired the outfit with Carolina Herrera pumps and a Carolina Herrera bag. She also wore a Cherubina headband (with thanks to Nuria), her Yanes earrings, and her Karen Hallam ring.

Queen Silvia wore her Georg & Arend fuchsia coat and dress with a burgundy Loewe bag and burgundy pumps. She also wore a Kerstin Carlefalk hat and her Cartier bracelet.

Crown Princess Victoria wore a new Andiata dress with her Bottega Veneta pumps and her Rizzo pumps. She also carried Handsome Stockholm gloves and wore a repeated headpiece. She paired the outfit with repeated earrings, her Epoch watch, her Bulgari ring, and her usual stack of bracelets.

Princess Sofia wore a new Ida Sjöstedt gown with black pumps and her Susan Szatmary clutch. She also wore a new hat by Headpieces by M and new earrings by LWL Jewelry.

For the gala dinner, Queen Letizia wore an H&M Conscious Collection gown with Queen Ena’s Fleur de Lys Tiara. She paired the outfit with her Magrit gold clutch and her Karen Hallam ring. When she left the hotel to go to the Royal Palace, she was wearing a repeated jacket. Interestingly, Crown Princess Victoria wore a slightly modified version of this gown back in 2020 for her 10th wedding anniversary photos.

Queen Silvia wore a new Georg & Arend gown with the Cameo tiara and her Cartier bracelet.


Crown Princess Victoria wore her Frida Jonsven gown with her Anya Hindmarch clutch. She wore the Aquamarine Kokoshnik tiara with her usual stack of bracelets.

Princess Sofia wore a new Safiyaa gown (with thanks to @innominate_93) with new Stinaa.J pumps and her Christian Louboutin clutch. She wore the pearl setting of the wedding tiara and her LWL Jewelry ring.
