Prince Carl-Philip and Princess Sofia celebrate 100 years of democracy in Sweden
Tonight, Prince Carl-Philip and Princess Sofia attended a concert celebrating the breakthrough of democracy in Sweden 100 years ago. The celebration started in 2018 and will end this year.
King Carl-Gustaf and Queen Silvia, and later the Crown Princess couple, were supposed to attend the event but they had to cancel because they all tested positive for COVID-19 so Prince Carl-Philip and Princess Sofia attended instead.
100 years ago, in January 1922, the first women were elected to the Swedish Parliament: Kerstin Hesselgren was elected to the First Chamber and Elisabeth Tamm, Bertha Wellin, Agda Östlund, and Nelly Thüring to the Second Chamber.
The concert was organized by the Swedish Parliament and featured performances by Sarah Dawn Finer, Björn Dixgård, Janice, Elin Bemark, Susanna Stern, and John Lundvik among others.
Princess Sofia wore a new Dorothee Schumacher dress with a new Bottega Veneta bag and her Manolo Blahnik pumps. She paired the outfit with her Raven Jewels earrings, LWL Jewelry ring, and her Skultuna bracelet.
