King Felipe and Queen Letizia present the 2020 Gold Medals for Merit in Fine Arts

Today, King Felipe and Queen Letizia presented the 2020 Gold Medals for Merit in Fine Arts in Pamplona. The medals recognize people and entities that have stood out in an eminent way in the field of artistic creation or that played a role in the promotion of art and the conservation of the national artistic heritage.

The 2020 Gold Medals winners include actress Emma Suarez, soprano Maria Josefina Bayo, singer-songwriter Rosario Flores, and director Alejandro de la Iglesia, among others. In his speech, King Felipe said: “Your role was essential during the pandemic. Surely in so many ways we remember well how it was for each of us. I said it in the last medal presentation and I wanted to share this idea again, because we must never forget it. Although Culture has always been with us, it was in the most difficult moments when it became a real need... and a relief.”

After having presented the medals, King Felipe and Queen Letizia posed with the winners and took the time to talk with them.

Queen Letizia wore her Moises Nieto dress with her Magrit pumps and matching clutch. She accessorized her outfit with her TOUS earrings and her Karen Hallam ring.
