The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit Jamaica - Day 2

On Wednesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent their second day in Jamaica as part of their Caribbean Jubilee tour.

The couple first met with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his wife Juliet at the Prime Minister’s residence Jamaica House.

Afterward, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Shortwood Teachers' College in Kingston where the Duchess of Cambridge made a speech about the crucial role of teachers in shaping the early years for children.

They also visited the Practising Infant and Primary School which is next to the Campus and is where the College’s research into early childhood is put into practice.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge then went to the Spanish Town Hospital which is celebrating its 70th birthday this year. They met healthcare workers to learn more about their experiences during the pandemic.

Their last daytime event was a visit to the Caribbean Military Technical Training Institute where they attended an event with the Jamaican Defense Force.

In the evening, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a gala dinner hosted by the Governor-General of Jamaica.

In his speech, Prince William said: "[…]I strongly agree with my father, The Prince of Wales, who said in Barbados last year that the appalling atrocity of slavery forever stains our history. I want to express my profound sorrow. Slavery was abhorrent. And it should never have happened. While the pain runs deep, Jamaica continues to forge its future with determination, courage, and fortitude. The strength and shared sense of purpose of the Jamaican people, represented in your flag and motto, celebrate an invincible spirit. […]”

Before the dinner, official photographs were taken of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with Governor-General Patrick Allen and his wife Patricia.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a new Alexander McQueen suit with a Ridley London top (with thanks to Caroline Parr). She paired the outfit with her Jimmy Choo Romy white pumps and a new Wayne Taylor vintage bag from Willow Hilson (with thanks to Christine). She also wore her Maria Black earrings, her Steelz and Mantraz bracelets (with thanks to innominate), and a new Amaia face mask.

In the evening, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a new Jenny Packham gown with emerald jewels on loan from the Queen. It is difficult to tell without clear photos but it is possible she wore her Manolo Blahnik green velvet pumps.
