Afterward, Queen Maxima took part in a boat tour on the Buffalo Bayou to learn more about the measures that Houston has taken against flooding.
The boat tour ended at the Cistern, a former underground water reservoir, which Queen Maxima visited.
Queen Maxima then visited the MD Anderson Cancer Center where she met patients and heard about innovative treatments against cancer.
In the afternoon, Queen Maxima attended several meetings about coastal protection and shared challenges with the business delegation.
Queen Maxima then attended the signing of a letter of intent between the Greater Houston Partnership and VNO-NCW.
In the evening, Queen Maxima attended a reception in the Museum of Fine Arts with American and Dutch companies in Texas.
