Queen Mathilde and Princess Elisabeth visit Egypt - Day 2
On Wednesday, Queen Mathilde and Princess Elisabeth spent their second day in Egypt. They are staying in the same hotel as Queen Elisabeth of the Belgians stayed a hundred years ago.
In Luxor, Queen Mathilde and Princess Elisabeth visited the archaeological sites of El Kab and Shaykh Abd-al-Qurna. The Art & History Museum in Brussels has been conducting research in El Kab for more than 85 years and Belgian universities completed excavations in Shaykh Abd-al-Qurna that helped to uncover and understand the development of an entire sector of this necropolis.
Afterward, Queen Mathilde and Princess Elisabeth visited the tomb of Tutankhamun. Queen Elisabeth and Prince Leopold attended the opening of the burial chamber in 1923 and were among the first to visit it. Queen Mathilde and Princess Elisabeth also visited the "Lost Gold City of Luxor", which was discovered in September 2020 and dates back more than 3400 years.
Queen Mathilde wore a Scapa dress (with thanks to GardeRobeRoyale) with her Tod’s loafers. She also wore Sézane earrings (with thanks to GardeRobeRoyale), her Longchamp sunglasses, and her Rolex watch.
Princess Elisabeth wore a Ba&Sh top and trousers with a Ba&Sh belt. She paired the outfit with Veja sneakers (with thanks to GardeRobeRoyale) and Sézane earrings.
