Queen Silvia presents the Queen Silvia Nursing Awards
On Thursday, Queen Silvia presented the Queen Silvia Nursing Awards to nurses, assistant nurses, and students who have contributed innovative ideas that promote care for the elderly and people with dementia.
In her speech, Queen Silvia said: “Skilled dementia care involves caring for people who often have multiple health conditions. They are more vulnerable to illnesses, injuries, and disabilities on top of cognitive impairment. The care is complex and multi-faceted. By valuing nurses, we show that we value their work and their knowledge. What is most important, we acknowledge the dignity and worth of each individual patient. To you – nursing and care professionals – I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your dedication and service to our society is immeasurable, and we are forever grateful for your tireless efforts.”
The 2022 scholarships winners are Jussara Otaviano (Brazil), Juana Gallegos (USA), Giedre Balčiūnienė (Lithuania), Sonja Meyers (Germany), Dominika Rachwał (Poland), Marie Svensson (Sweden), Karoliina Tiura (Finland), Mia Kuusisto (Finland), and Sara Rosenberg (Sweden).
Queen Silvia wore a blue suit with black pumps and her Hermes bag.
