King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visit Halland County
On Thursday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Halland County as part of King Carl-Gustaf’s Jubilee celebrations.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited the University of Halmstad where they visited the Fab Lab (Fabrication Laboratory) which focuses on openness and cooperation between education, research, business, and private individuals.
Afterward, the Royal Couple visited the City Library where they met young reading ambassadors and saw a creative workshop for children.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then took part in a jubilee event with performances by the youth choir Nova Cantica and the music choir.
In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said: “History is not a straight road. And every era has its challenges. One of ours is climate change. To meet them, sustainable energy production is required. And in that area, Halland is an example. The county is a kind of energy center. And then I'm not mainly thinking of the spa hotels along the coast - although they can probably also provide new energy. No, I'm thinking of the rapidly growing wind power, of the fact that you have more solar energy per inhabitant than any other county, and of the nuclear power from Ringhals. It provides a good energy mix. And in the same way, you have a good mix of small and medium-sized companies. The risks are spread out so that neither the weather nor economic conditions paralyze production.”
The Royal Couple then attended an official lunch hosted by the Governor at Halmstad Castle.
King Carl Gustaf also planted an oxel tree in the Castle’s garden to mark the jubilee visit.
Queen Silvia wore her Weill suit with black pumps, her Hermes bag, and her Cartier bracelet.
