King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visit Värmland County
On Thursday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Värmland County as part of King Carl-Gustaf’s Jubilee celebrations.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia first visited the Central Hospital to learn more about the construction plans for the new Central Hospital. The first sub-project will start in 2024 and will be Sweden's first healthcare building with a wooden frame.
Afterward, the Royal Couple watched a dramatized performance about important events in Karlstad's history.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then attended an official lunch hosted by the Governor at his residence.
After the lunch, they saw the photo exhibition ‘The King in Värmland’.
The Royal Couple then walked to Stora Torget where King Carl Gustaf unveiled a park bench made of fossil-free steel to mark the Jubilee.
They also visited the event ‘A Taste of Värmland’, where they had the opportunity to speak with Värmland food producers. They also watched performances by dancers from the high school, the university, and dance schools.
The county visit ended at the Cathedral where King Carl Gustaf made a speech. He said:”On our walk to the Stora Torget, we passed the Peace Monument. On the foundation, it says: "Feud breeds public hatred. Peace promotes understanding.” Words that still stand today. Yes, we must constantly remind ourselves of history, and think about the future. Think about our ancestors - but also about our grandchildren and their grandchildren. I would like to highlight both the value of what has been, and remind you of the responsibility for future generations.”
Queen Silvia wore a white jacket with a blue dress, her Hermes bag, and her Cartier bracelet.
