Queen Maxima visits the Philippines as UNSGSA - Day 1
This week, Queen Maxima is undertaking a working visit to the Philippines in her role as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development. Queen Maxima touched down in the Philippines on Monday evening and was welcomed by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Dr. Eli M. Remolona Jr.
On Tuesday, Queen Maxima visited Talim Island where she met with local fishermen to discuss how digital financial services are helping some members of the community access credit for loans to buy more fishing cages.
Afterward, Queen Maxima met with a GrowSari client to hear about their experiences with the platform. GrowSari is a tech-enabled B2B platform that empowers small merchants by providing affordable products, e-business solutions, and critical financial services.
Queen Maxima also visited GCash in Manila to learn more about how they are supporting farmers and fishers in building greater financial resilience to disaster and climate risks in the Philippines.
