Princess Leonor attends engagements in Zaragoza

On Tuesday, Princess Leonor attended several engagements in Zaragoza. She first received the Medal of the Cortes of Aragon, the highest distinction awarded by the autonomous parliament. King Felipe had received this medal in 1986.

Afterward, Princess Leonor received the title of Adoptive Daughter of the city of Zaragoza. The title of Adoptive Daughter of Zaragoza recognizes people who have stood out for their merits or qualities, especially in the cultural, scientific, social, artistic, political, or economic fields, or for services provided for the benefit of the city.

Princess Leonor then walked to The Seo del Salvador where she received the Medal of Aragon, the highest distinction awarded by the Government of Aragon, for "being deserving of the general affection of the Aragonese people and showing a special sensitivity towards that land."

In her speech, Princess Leonor said: ”Here I have met young people of my generation and I have lived with them. I assure you that what we experience while we train at the Academy unites us forever and makes us mature and grow thanks to the camaraderie, the guidance of managers and teachers, and all the people at the Academy who encourage us to continue advancing and improving. Here we have sworn the flag, here we have overcome moments that required effort and great teamwork, here we have enjoyed and suffered together, and, above all, here we have learned a lot.”
