Queen Letizia attends World Rare Diseases Day event

On Tuesday, Queen Letizia attended an event hosted by the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER) to mark World Rare Diseases Day in Oviedo. The event was organized within the framework of the organization’s campaign to raise awareness of the reality of those who live with these pathologies.

In her speech, Queen Letizia said: “Everyone here knows exactly what we must continue to improve and we have repeated it here many times but we must continue to say it: access to treatments, shortening the time for approval of medicines and their financing, the extension of neonatal genetic screening, territorial equity, greater comprehensive care for all the dependencies generated by rare diseases. I am stressing here, in particular, the mental health of the person who has the disease and the people who care for that patient, which I have left out..., that of course a diagnosis is achieved in much shorter times, that progress is also made in those recently recognised specialties of genetic medicine, medical medicine and laboratory clinic, that is how it is, Minister, that is how it is. There is little more to say.”

During the event, Queen Letizia presented the FEDER 2025 awards to Raúl Vara, the Reciclos Project, and the Associative movement promoting research.

Queen Letizia wore a Sandro suit (with thanks to Nuria) with her Massimo Dutti loafers and her Carolina Herrera bag. She paired the outfit with her Gold & Roses earrings and her Coreterno ring.
