Swedish Royal Family celebrates National Day

On Friday, the Swedish Royal Family celebrated National Day! New official photos of Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar were released to mark the day.

Ahead of National Day, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar visited the Royal Stables to help prepare the horses for the cortege that brought the Royal Family to today's celebrations at Skansen.

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia started this year’s National Day celebrations in Nybro in Kalmar County.

At a national day ceremony at Qvarnasläts Hembygdsgård, the King handed out flags to associations and organizations with activities in Kalmar County.

In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said: “On National Day, we celebrate what has been but also what can be. Because Nybro never stands still. The city is developing, you find new ways and dare to think new things.”

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia also visited Pukeberg Glassworks, one of Sweden's oldest and most well-preserved glassworks. They also visited the National Glass School to learn more about the glass craftsman training.

Meanwhile, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel celebrated National Day in Hagaparken to attend a concert where soloists from the Royal Swedish Opera, the Royal Swedish Court Orchestra, the Royal Swedish Opera Choir, and dancers from the Royal Swedish Ballet performed. In her speech, Crown Princess Victoria said: “For me, National Day is one of the most beautiful holidays of the year. It is a day to feel pride and joy in Sweden. A day to feel gratitude for everything we have. And it's a day that we celebrate together across our country.”

Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, with their daughter Princess Ines, opened the palace's southern gates and welcomed the public into the Inner Courtyard. Prince Carl Philip also attended the changing of the guard at Yttre borggården.

In his speech, Prince Carl Philip said: “The royal palaces are an important part of our cultural heritage. Therefore, it is a pleasure to welcome you into these unique environments filled with history, art, and stories”

Afterward, the Royal Couple and the Crown Princess Couple with their children travelled in a horse-drawn procession to the national day celebration at Sollidenscenen at Skansen. They were joined by Prince Carl Philip, Princess Madeleine, and Chris O’Neill.

The Royal Family then hosted a National Day reception for representatives of the government, the Riksdag, and members of the diplomatic corps at the Royal Castle.

The National Day celebrations concluded with the Army Band performing their tapto for the Royal Family in front of the Royal Castle.

Queen Silvia wore her Georg et Arend red pantsuit with her Vesna W blouse and her Rieker trainers. She also wore her Philip Treacy hat and her Cartier and Engelbert bracelets.

Queen Silvia then changed into her national costume with her Rieker trainers and her Cartier and Engelbert bracelets.

Crown Princess Victoria wore her Saloni dress with her H&M sandals and her Miu Miu clutch. She also wore earrings from 2003 and her Swedish flag necklace. She then changed into her national costume.

In the official photo, Princess Estelle wore her national costume with By Jolima earrings.

At the stables, Princess Estelle wore a Soft Goat jumper with jeans.

At the Skansen celebration, Princess Estelle wore her national costume with a Stutterheim raincoat.

In the official photo, Prince Oscar wore his Dal Lago suit with his Dal Lago tie.

At the stables, Prince Oscar wore his Mango shirt with jeans.

At the Skansen celebration, Prince Oscar wore his Reiss coat.

Princess Sofia wore her national costum with her IN2Design earrings and her Bigli Jewels ring.

Princess Madeleine wore her national costume with a Séraphine coat from the 2015 collection. She also wore her Ebba Brahe necklace.
