King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attend UN General Assembly - Day 4
On Wednesday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia spent their fourth day in New York City where they are attending the UN General Assembly.
Queen Silvia first attended a seminar arranged by Save the Children, UNICEF, and the World Childhood Foundation on the theme “A Future at Risk: Reinvigorating Global Action for the Rights of the Child”.

In her speech, Queen Silvia said: “The Convention on the Rights of the Child is universal. It means all rights for all children. We must not pick and choose, because when we do, it is always the most marginalised who are left behind. That is why we must come together, more than ever, to find new ways of working, new partners, and new alliances – to bring resources, creativity and determination to the task. What gives me hope today are the new voices and ideas that are emerging: youth-led groups, survivor movements, bold philanthropists, and academic advocates. You are showing us what real collaboration can look like. You are shaping new initiatives and leading the way forward.”

Afterward, Queen Silvia met with UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell, UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous, and Najat Maalla M'jid, the Secretary-General's Special Representative on issues related to violence against children.

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia also met with the UN World Food Programme's Deputy Executive Director, Carl Skau, to hear more about his work.
