King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia host 50th wedding anniversary receptions
On Thursday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted receptions ahead of their 50th wedding anniversary which will be officially celebrated on Saturday.
King Carl Gustaf first presented Queen Silvia with the Seraphim Medal for particularly significant humanitarian efforts over half a century . The Seraphim Medal is Sweden's most prestigious merit medal.
Queen Silvia works to support children who grow up in difficult circumstances without adult role models and children who are exposed to abuse. Her social commitment also includes those affected by dementia. Among the organizations founded by Queen Silvia are Mentor, the World Childhood Foundation, and Silviahemmet.
Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, and Princess Madeleine were in attendance.

Afterward, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia received Speaker of the Riksdag, Andreas Norlén, and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at the Royal Palace who presented the government’s gift to mark the 50th wedding anniversary. The gift is a brass candlestick designed by Monica Förster Design Studio and cast in ore by the metal company SMD in Småland.
Queen Silvia wore her Thalia brocade jacket with a white dress and her Brunate pumps.
Crown Princess Victoria wore her ByTiMo printed dress with navy wedges and her Quidam clutch.
Princess Sofia wore a Roland Mouret jacket with black trousers.
Princess Madeleine wore her Veronica Beard jacket with a Zimmermann blouse, navy trousers, and her Marzio pumps.
