Swedish Royal Family celebrates National Day
On Saturday, the Swedish Royal Family celebrated National Day! New official photos of Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar were released to mark the day. Princess Estelle couldn’t attend the celebrations on the day as she is currently taking part in a language trip.
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel opened the palace's southern gates and welcomed the public into the Inner Courtyard.
Meanwhile, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Håbo in Uppsala County. They attended a National Day celebration at Skokloster Castle. In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said: “Our common symbols – like the blue and yellow flag – are also part of what unites us. Wherever we live in Sweden, it stands for our values and for our history. My wish is that everyone in our country feels that the flag is theirs – on National Day and all days of the year.”
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel took part in the National Day celebrations in Skönviksparken in Rönninge in the municipality of Salem. In her speech, Crown Princess Victoria said: “Today we are reminded of the values that underpin our society – democracy, justice, freedom and peace. These are values that are not self-evident, but which we all have a responsibility to protect and stand up for. National Day is about Sweden, but our country is built locally in municipalities like Salem. In meetings between people. In trust, responsibility, and the will to create something better together.”
In the afternoon, the Royal Couple and the Crown Princess Couple with Prince Oscar travelled in a horse-drawn procession to the national day celebration at Sollidenscenen at Skansen. They were joined by Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine, and Chris O’Neill.
The Royal Family then hosted a National Day reception for representatives of the government, the Riksdag, and members of the diplomatic corps at the Royal Castle.
The National Day celebrations concluded with the Army Band performing their tapto for the Royal Family in front of the Royal Castle.
