Queen Letizia marks World Cancer Research Day 2026
On Wednesday, Queen Letizia attended the main event marking World Cancer Research Day 2026, held at the headquarters of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer in Brussels. Queen Letizia is the Honorary President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer and of the Spanish Association Against Cancer Scientific Foundation.
In her speech, Queen Letizia said: “Research is no longer a promise for the future. Research is already transforming lives and saving them every day. But if we want this progress to continue, it must be supported by sustained investment, strong public-private collaboration and, above all, by universal access. Cancer does not discriminate; it does not care where we are born, where we live, or what resources we have. We cannot allow scientific progress to become a source of social inequality. And here I would like to pay special attention to childhood cancer, which deserves a dedicated focus not only because of its low incidence, but also because it affects children at a stage of life when their futures are only beginning to unfold.”
Queen Letizia wore her Mirto suit with her Sézane shirt. She paired the outfit with her Sézane pumps and her Malababa clutch. She also wore her Coreterno and Karen Hallam rings.
On Wednesday, Queen Maxima spent her third day in New York City to attend the UN General Assembly in her role as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health.
