Every garment has a tale to tell, but the story behind this coat from The Modern Artisan collection is something truly special. Designed by rising stars from the Politecnico di Milano in Italy, it’s been tailored at Dumfries House from a merino wool and cashmere-blend and lined with GOTS-certified organic and 100% traceable silk. The hand-sewn smocking at the nape draws inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci's knots and geometric sketches in the Codex Atlanticus held at Milan's Ambrosiana library.
The Modern Artisan launches the careers of the next generation of designers. Created in partnership between YOOX NET-A-PORTER and The King’s Foundation in 2019, it offers fashion and textiles graduates a unique opportunity to design, manufacture and launch a more responsible luxury capsule collection on NET-A-PORTER.
