Spanish royal family attends Princess of Asturias Awards
Today, the Princess of Asturias Awards took place in Oviedo with King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia in attendance. It is the first time the children attend the awards.
In the morning, King Felipe and Queen Letizia and their children received the winners of this year’s awards in audience in the Council Hall of the Reconquista Hotel.
In the evening, the family attended the official ceremony with Queen Sofia. This year’s winners are Peter Brook (Arts), Museo Nacional del Prado (Communication and Humanities), Salman Khan and the Khan Academy (International Cooperation), Lindsey Vonn (Sports), Siri Hustvedt (Literature), Alejandro Portes (Social Sciences), Joanne Chory and Sandra Myrna Díaz (Scientific and Technical Research) and the City of Gdansk (Concord).
Princess Leonor made her first speech as Princess of Asturias during the ceremony and she handed out the awards with her father.
Leonor’s speech was a very emotional moment and her parents, her sister and her grandmothers looked very emotional and proud!
For the audiences, Letizia wore a new dress by Pertegaz with her wedding earrings, her Carolina Herrera slingback pumps, and her Karen Hallam ring.
At the awards, Letizia debuted a new bespoke red Felipe Varela dress. She wore it with an old clutch and her Lodi red pumps.
