The Duchess of Cambridge reveals the findings of her Early Years study

Following Monday’s video message about the Early Years study, Kensington Palace and the Duchess of Cambridge shared more information this week about the findings ahead of the forum hosted today by the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Ipsos MORI.

On Tuesday, the Duchess of Cambridge met with Kelly Beaver, the Managing Director of Public Affairs for Ipsos MORI, to prepare for Friday’s forum. You can read the report here and the executive summary here.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a black outfit with her Zara white blazer and her Daniella Draper hoop earrings.

On Thursday evening and on Friday morning, Kensington Palace shared short videos about the 5 Big Insights. The first insight is: “Answering the #5BigQuestions, 98% of you said that nurture is essential to lifelong outcomes. But just one in four recognize the specific importance of the first five years of a child’s life.”

Kate wore the Reiss ‘Trina’ blue dress that she first wore in 2012 for her first public speech as a royal and her Daniella Draper necklace.

The second insight is: “90% of people see parental mental health and wellbeing as being critical to a child’s development, but in reality people do very little to prioritise themselves. Only 10% of parents mentioned taking the time to look after their own wellbeing when asked how they had prepared for the arrival of their baby.”

Kate wore a new red sweater by Gap in this video. The sweater is currently on sale for Black Friday!

The third insight is: “70% of parents feel judged by others and among these parents, nearly half feel this negatively impacts their mental health.”

Kate wore her Equipment dotted blouse in this video.

The fourth insight is: “Parental loneliness has dramatically increased during the pandemic — from 38% before to 63% — as parents have been cut off from friends and family.”

In this fourth video, Kate wore a new jacket by Barbour x Alexa Chung over a white sweater and her Spells of Love earrings.

The fifth and last insight is: “Across the UK, communities have united powerfully to meet the challenge of unprecedented times. 40% of parents feel that community support has grown. However, parents in the most deprived areas are less likely to have experienced this increased support (33%) than elsewhere.'“

Kate wore her white Zara blazer.

On Friday afternoon, the Duchess of Cambridge attended a forum where she made the keynote speech. She said: “I have seen that experiences such as homelessness, addiction, and poor mental health are often grounded in a difficult childhood But I have also seen, how positive protective factors in the early years can play a crucial role in shaping our futures. The early years are not simply about how we raise our children. They are in fact about how we raise the next generation of adults. They are about the society we will become." You can watch the full forum here.

Kate wore her Marks & Spencer blazer with her Simone Rocha pearl earrings.

On Saturday, the Duchess of Cambridge answered questions about the Early Years that were asked on Instagram.
