King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima attend Prinsjesdag 2020

Today, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima attended Prinsjesdag 2020 alongside Prince Constantjin and Princess Laurentien. During Prinsjesdag, King Willem-Alexander reads the ‘Speech from the Throne’, written jointly by the Ministers and Secretaries of State.

This year, the ceremony was scaled down because of the restrictions in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremony took place at the Grote Kerk instead of the Ridderzaal with fewer people in attendance. The royal family arrived by car instead of arriving in a carriage and they also didn't appear on the balcony of Noordeinde Palace to prevent crowds from gathering.

Queen Maxima wore her mustard yellow Claes Iversen gown with a gold Bottega Veneta clutch. Instead of her usual hat, Queen Maxima wore a gold hairpiece by Fabienne Delvigne.

Princess Laurentien wore a knitted lamé patterned top and skirt by Missoni with a matching cape in the same Missoni fabric made by Hardies and a headband in the same fabric made my Eudia.
