Royal Recap: May 3rd - May 9th

Welcome to this week’s Royal Recap where we’ll take a look at the events we weren’t able to cover fully this week!

On Monday, Queen Mathilde made a video message to mark the beginning of the Queen Elisabeth Competition - Piano 2021.

She wore a Natan white scarf collar blouse that Queen Maxima also owns.

On Thursday, Queen Mathilde met digitally with the Commissioner-General and President of the Brussels book fair to discuss the impact of the pandemic on the literary world and the book fair.

Queen Mathilde repeated her Giorgio Armani white blazer for this meeting.

On Friday, Queen Mathilde met with students and their teacher who handed over one of their homemade light graffiti artworks. They dedicated their work to the heroes of the crisis to express their gratitude.

On Wednesday, Crown Princess Mette-Marit shared a video message to mark International Day of Midwives. In her speech, she said: “You help at the beginning of life - and ensure security and professionalism in one of the most vulnerable life situations for both mother and child. […] To invest in midwives all over the world is to invest in child and maternal health. It is investing in a good and safe start in life. Yes, it is actually investing in life itself”


On Thursday, Crown Princess Mary took part in High Level Commission on Population and Development ICPD25 Follow-Up to mark International Day of Midwifes. One of the topics of the meeting was how midwives are one of the most important factors in achieving zero maternal deaths. ⁣


On Friday, Crown Princess Victoria met with representatives of the municipalities of Bjuvs, Trosa, and Kalmar to learn more about how they handled the pandemic.

She wore her By Malene Birger pussy-bow blouse and CravingFor Jewellery earrings.


On Friday, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie, and Prince Charles were in Oetrange to plant a cherry tree donated by the municipality of Contern in honor of Prince Charles who will celebrate his 1st birthday on Monday.

Stéphanie wore a new red Bogner jacket and Charles wore his Tartine et Chocolat blue coat.

On Saturday evening, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took part in the VaxLive Concert to encourage vaccination all over the world. The Duchess of Sussex made a speech where she said: “ When we think of [our daughter], we think of all the young women and girls around the globe who must be given the ability and the support to lead us forward. Their future leadership depends on the decisions we make and the actions we take now to set them up, and set all of us up, for a successful, equitable, compassionate tomorrow. We want to make sure that as we recover, we recover stronger. That as we rebuild, we rebuild together."
