The Royal Couple and the Presidential Couple then had a private meeting and exchanged gifts.

While King Willem-Alexander visited the Anne Frank Zentrum, Queen Maxima went to the Dutch Embassy to learn more about the Dutch-German cooperation in the field of pediatric oncology. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed during her visit.

Afterwards, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima laid a wreath at the Neue Wache which is a monument to the victims of war and violence.

The Royal Couple then visited the Robert Koch-Institut to hear more about Dutch-German cooperation around COVID-19. During the visit, King Willem-Alexander thanked Germany for their help during the pandemic.

During his speech, King Willem-Alexander said: “In the most difficult moments, our friendship proved its true strength. When our ICUs became full, hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony lovingly opened their doors to Dutch patients and the borders between our countries were not closed. We will never forget the solidarity of our immediate neighbours.”

For the day events, Queen Maxima wore a new Natan midi dress with a matching hat and her Gianvito Rossi pumps. She paired the outfit with her Scully & Scully earrings and her Dinh Van bracelet.

In the evening, Queen Maxima wore her Jan Taminiau embroidered gown with new Gianvito Rossi sandals and her Begum Khan clutch. She wore the Stuart Diamond Tiara in a new setting.
