Queen Sonja visits the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Venice
On Thursday and Friday, Queen Sonja was in Venice as she visited the Biennale of Contemporary Art.
On Thursday, she officially opened the exhibition “The Sami Pavilion” in the Nordic Pavilion which shows the works of three Sami artists from Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
In her speech, Queen Sonja said: “For the Sámi people, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to bring Sámi stories and worldviews to our attention. For the Nordic countries, it offers a message of mutual respect that all Nordic citizens can be proud of. For the international community, this is a strong reminder of how indigenous peoples contribute to the world’s philosophy and cultural expressions. It is also a journey into the core of art itself!”
On Friday, Queen Sonja visited the main exhibition of the Biennale, "The Milk of Dreams", as it features the works of three Norwegian artists.
On Thursday, Queen Sonja wore her Emilio Pucci cape over a repeated outfit with her Chanel bag and Silhouette sunglasses.
