King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visit Kalmar County
On Tuesday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Kalmar County as part of King Carl-Gustaf’s Jubilee celebrations.
King Carl Gustaf first planted an Öland oak tree in the City Park.
Afterward, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia walked from Larmtorget along Storgatan to Stortorget. They took the time to greet the crowds waiting for them.
In the Stadsparken, the Royal Couple attended a jubilee event with performances by Mollie Minott and the children's choirs Sånglingarna and Tonsättarna.
In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said: “As I mentioned, it's also an anniversary year of a slightly more personal kind. Öland's bridge is roughly as old as my time as head of state, 50 years. I was there to inaugurate it in 1972, when I was still crown prince. In 1973 I succeeded my grandfather, Gustaf VI Adolf, as king and regent of Sweden. You should know that the trips and visits around the country have been one of the most rewarding tasks for the Queen and me in the past years. And they still are. To meet you, hear about your joys and challenges.”
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then attended a jubilee lunch hosted by the County Governor.
The Royal Couple also visited Kalmar Castle where they saw an exhibition by the association Brickmakers, which built Borgholm Castle and Solliden Castle in Lego. They also visited the photo exhibition “King Carl XVI Gustaf – 50 years for Sweden”.
Queen Silvia wore a repeated coat with repeated shoes, her Louis Vuitton bag, and her Cartier bracelet.
