King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visit Kronoberg County
On Wednesday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Kronoberg County as part of King Carl-Gustaf’s Jubilee celebrations.
The Royal Couple first visited Utvandranarnas hus, where they saw the permanent exhibition The new country – The Dream of America which depicts the many phases of Swedish emigration. They also saw the jubilee exhibition HM the King 50 years on the throne.
Afterward, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia walked to Linnéparken where they attended a jubilee event with performances by Crazy Daze and John Martin Bengtsson.
In his speech, King Carl Gusaf said: “For Sweden in time". It's the name of the newly composed march that was played when we walked here. And it has been my language of choice for 50 years. I have always strived to find out as much as possible about what is happening "at the time". Therefore, the Queen and I have seen it as one of our most important tasks to travel around Sweden. To take part in the ongoing development. And therefore it was obvious to celebrate this 50th anniversary by once again visiting all of Sweden's counties and cities of residence. Today the turn has come to Kronoberg and Växjö.”
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then attended a jubilee lunch hosted by the Governor.
After lunch, the Royal Couple went out on the balcony of the residence to watch as the music choir of the Växjö schools and the Hemvärnet's music choir Eksjö played.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then visited Östrabo Ekobacke which is an urban ecological garden with a focus on food, meetings, knowledge, and recreation. King Carl Gustaf also unveiled a memorial bench that was made in collaboration with Linnaeus University, Södra, and Ikea.
Queen Silvia wore a pink and brown suit with brown shoes, her Hermes bag, and her Cartier bracelet.
