King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visit Västernorrland County

On Monday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Västernorrland County as part of King Carl-Gustaf’s Jubilee celebrations.

The Royal Couple first attended the jubilee performance Moments from our common history at Härnösand's theatre. They also visited the jubilee exhibition The King - 50 Years on the Throne.

Afterward, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Minnesplats för fred and took part in the inauguration of the sculpture "Ignis".

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia then traveled by car to Stora torget. The car they used belonged to Prince Bertil in the 1960s and is today owned by the Car Museum in Härnösand.

At Stora torget, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended a jubilee event with performances by the Cathedral Choir, Cirkus Elvira, Ulrika Bodén and Ahlberg, Ek & Roswall.

In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said: “The Queen and I have been to Västernorrland many times. We especially remember the inauguration of the Högakustenbron in 1997. It helps tie together the scenic area which is now world famous. A real pride for your county, yes for all of Sweden. And the High Coast has become an increasingly popular travel destination, not least during the pandemic when we all woke up to "stay home".”

The Royal Couple then attended an official lunch hosted at the Governor’s Residence.

They concluded their county visit at Technichus, a science center with the aim of stimulating interest in science and technology for children, young people, and adults. They met students and entrepreneurs and took part in some of the activities.

Queen Silvia wore a purple cape with her Oscar de la Renta jacket, a black dress, black shoes, and her Darby Scott bag. She also wore her Joan Rivers brooch.
