Jun 4 King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visit Västra Götaland County

On Sunday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Västra Götaland County as part of King Carl-Gustaf’s Jubilee celebrations. They first traveled in a horse-drawn cortege along Kungsportsavenyn to Gustaf Adolfs torg.

Afterward, King Carl Gustaf gave a speech in front of the stock exchange in which he said:”We live our modern lives, surrounded by history. At the same time, we look ahead, towards tomorrow. The knowledge of our history makes us understand our present better and also equips us for the future. With those words, I want to thank you for the great turnout here today. And now the Queen and I look forward to the rest of the day and to taking part in the continued festivities for this incomparable 400-year-old.”

Then, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended a jubilee lunch hosted by the Governor.

In the afternoon, the Royal Couple’s visit focused on Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary. They attended the inauguration of Jubileumsparken's harbor swimming pool before taking part in a gala dinner in Gothenburg's honor in the Great Hall of the Stock Exchange.
