King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia mark Sala's 400th anniversary
On Monday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia celebrated the 400th anniversary of the city of Sala.
To mark the anniversary, King Carl Gustaf inaugurated a new statue, depicting a miner, outside Sala station. The Royal Couple also had the opportunity to look at the sluice system that was built for the mining operations in the Sala silver mine.
In his speech, King Carl Gustaf said: “Your city is of course more than the mine. Sala has a rich cultural life - with everything from music clubs, the cultural school, and the churches with their choirs. Sala is also part of something bigger - namely Västmanland county, which has become a center for the development of green technology. Above all in energy production and environmental technology.”
Queen Silvia wore her Maknam suit with her Louis Vuitton bag.
