The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visit Nigeria - Day 2
On Saturday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent their second day in Nigeria as they are undertaking a three-day visit to the country.
They first attended a Nigeria: Unconquered’s training session. Nigeria: Unconquered supports wounded, injured, or sick service members and was born from the Invictus movement. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex watched a sitting volleyball game before the Duke of Sussex joined in.
Afterward, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a reception with military families and The Widows Association to honor the sacrifices made by service members as they shared their stories of recovery and preparation for the Invictus Games 2025.
The Duchess of Sussex also took part in a Women in Leadership event during which she said: “I often find that whatever travels I’ve done, regardless if it’s Nigeria or another country around the world, oftentimes when women reach the peak of success, they leave. But you need to come back home. You need to at least be a familiar face for the next generation to say, ‘Oh, she looks like me. And I can be that.’ You still always want to come back home because that’s how you’re going to help shift any sort of generational pattern that might be stifling, especially for young girls who need to see someone who looks like them in that same position.”
The Duchess of Sussex first wore a Johanna Ortiz dress (with thanks to @MeghansClosetChronicles) with her Emme Persons sandals. She paired the outfit with her Jennifer Meyer earrings, her bracelets by Ariel Gordon, Cartier, and Lorraine Schwartz bracelets, as well as Heidi Merrick sunglasses (with thanks to @MeghansClosetChronicles).
The Duchess of Sussex then wore a St. Agni dress with Aquazzura sandals (with thanks to @MeghansClosetChronicles). She paired the outfit with vintage Christian Dior earrings and the same bracelets as earlier in the day. According to People, her cross necklace belonged to Princess Diana.
For her third event, the Duchess of Sussex wore a dress from Nigerian designer Oríré (with thanks to @PearlKadubul) with her Aquazzura sandals. She paired the outfit with her Kimai earrings, her Logan Holliwell necklace, and bracelets by Ariel Gordon, Cartier, Lorraine Schwartz, and Shaun Leane.
