In her opening speech, Queen Letizia said: “Our foremost goal is to ensure that the knowledge derived from this research truly and effectively reaches patients as quickly as possible. This year, you know, the focus is on innovation. Innovation is trying to make the knowledge transfer into reality to enhance equity in the access to treatments and, of course, to improve both the survival rates and, of course, the quality of life for patients.”

Afterward, Queen Letizia met with Spanish researchers to learn more about the different challenges they face as well as their daily work in research in different disciplines in Italy.
