Italian State Visit to Belgium - Day 2

On Tuesday, the President of Italy, accompanied by his daughter, spent their second day in Belgium.

King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, President Mattarella, and Laura Mattarella first visited the Royal Library of Belgium. They saw one of the oldest manuscripts of the "Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri, who is considered the father of the Italian language.


Afterward, they visited Marcinelle, on the Bois du Cazier site. This former coal mine is a place of remembrance dedicated to the victims of the mining disaster of August 8, 1956, which left 262 dead, including 136 Italian immigrant workers.

In the evening, President Mattarella and Laura Mattarella hosted a concert at the La Monnaie opera house to thank King Philippe and Queen Mathilde for their hospitality. Prince Laurent was also in attendance.

Queen Mathilde wore her Christian Dior Haute Couture outfit with her Christian Dior pumps and bag. She paired the outfit with her Rolex watch.

In the evening, Queen Mathilde wore a Natan Couture outfit with her Giorgio Armani pumps and her Giorgio Armani clutch. She also wore her Leysen earrings and her Rolex watch.
