Spanish Royal Family attends 2025 Princess of Asturias Awards

On Friday evening, King Felipe, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, Infanta Sofia, and Queen Sofia attended the 2025 Princess of Asturias Awards.

This year’s winners are the National Museum of Anthropology of Mexico (Concord), Graciela Iturbide (Arts), Byung-Chul Han(Communication and Humanities), Douglas Massey ( Social Sciences), Serena Williams (Sports), Eduardo Mendoza (Literature), Mary-Claire King (Technical and Scientific Research), and Mario Draghi (International Cooperation).

Both King Felipe and Princess Leonor made speeches during the ceremony and Princess Leonor handed out the awards. In her speech, Princess Leonor said: “Coexistence is not easy, but it is the only path to shared progress. It makes sense to cherish and defend the values that, as Spaniards and Europeans—indeed, as citizens of every place—define and guide us. Trusting in them means trusting in freedom over fear, in justice over arbitrariness, in democracy over intolerance, in the social rule of law over the abuse of power, and in human rights over indifference. I am aware that sometimes words spoken from behind a lectern can sound empty, but I also know that it doesn't hurt to review and remember the nature of the difficulties, and the solutions, and to insist that there are no magic formulas for managing this complexity. Today, the award winners contribute precisely to rekindling that enthusiasm.”

Queen Letizia wore her Sybilla dress with her Magrit pumps and a Sybilla clutch (with thanks to Emma). She paired the outfit with her De Grisogono earrings and her Coreterno ring.

Princess Leonor wore an H&M dress with her Carolina Herrera pumps.

Infanta Sofia wore a MIPHAI dress and shawl with her Magrit flats. She also wore her mother’s Karen Hallam ring.

Queen Sofia wore an Alejandro de Miguel suit.
